The First National Doctoral Forum of Law Held in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

In October 22, 2017, the first national forum of law for Doctoral, "Looking at The Starry Sky · PFTZ (Pilot Free Trade Zone) Legal Response", was sponsored by the school of law, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics at the Guoding Road District. Nearly 50 doctoral representatives, experts and scholars from all over the country participated in the forum. The theme of the forum was "free trade zone" legal response".

 

 

At the opening ceremony, Professor Xu Jian, Vice Dean of the School of Law of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, warmly welcomed the arrival of all experts and doctoral students. A brief introduction of the School of Law of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was given in the aspects of discipline construction, scientific research, personnel training and so on. He hoped that the doctoral students in presence could speak freely, and each one could air his or her own views, strengthen exchanges of perspectives, broaden one’s horizons and get real academic profits.

 

 

The Doctoral Forum was divided into four sub theme units as follows: The Public law problem in the Free Trade Zone, Taxation and Competition Policies in PFTZ, Trade and Financial Rules of Law in PFTZ, the Dispute Settlement Mechanism of the PFTZ. Ten    doctoral student representatives from universities such as University of Macau carried out keynote reports around four sub themes separately. Eight experts participated in the exchange and commented on thesis of each doctoral student respectively, who are from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai University and other universities. These wonderful comments, discussions of key issues, and especially recommendations on the further improvement of the paper have played an essential role in guiding doctoral students to improve their academic quality, grasp the key issues and improve the ability to innovate.

 

 

In the closing ceremony of the conference and awards ceremony, assistant dean of School of law of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Pro. Xu Jian read the award-winning paper list. Pro. Hu Ling, vice president of the Law School, awarded honorary certificates to doctoral candidates. Pro. Hu also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the experts and doctoral students in his speech. He hoped that all doctoral students would continue to pay attention to the relevant legal issues of the FTA and perform researches into further details.

 

 

This National Forum of Doctor of law was aimed to build high level academic platform for law doctoral students to exchange ideas, to promote the national universities law, exchanges and cooperation between students, improve the ability of scientific research doctoral students, and to cultivate high-level innovative talents. The 19th session of national congress of the communist party of China has put forward the idea that greater reform autonomy should be given to PFTA (Pilot Free Trade Zone), for the purpose of exploring the construction of free trade port. Compared with the general ones, the construction of free trade port will promote the implementation of a new round of high-level opening to the outside world, and form a higher degree of optimal allocation of resources in fields of finance, services and other aspects with openness and higher levels. The National Forum of law doctoral students, which set the legal response to the FTZ as the theme, was held at the right time.
